Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of April: “Hope in a Changing Climate”
Across the UK and across the world, Christians are working to care for God's earth and for each other. How does the Paris Agreement give support to our efforts? Does it re-ignite hope that the most dangerous climate change can be avoided? What needs to happen to strengthen what was agreed? And how can we, sustained and guided by our hope in Christ, work for a vision of a restored creation? A Conference organised by a group of agencies and churches, including A Rocha UK, All We Can, CAFOD, Christian Aid, CCOW, the Church of England, Commitment for Life, Global Justice Now, Operation Noah, Progressio, and Tearfund. It will offer a chance to get updates on what happened in Paris, reflect on Christian responses, share ideas and experiences, and learn about ways in which we can act to make a difference - whether through advocacy, investments, practical action or prayer. Speakers including leading climate scientist Professor Myles Allen; theologians such as Michael Northcott, Martin Poulsom, Rosalind Selby and Ruth Valerio; climate communicator George Marshall; church leaders such as the Rt Revd William Kenney, Rachel Lampard, and Jo Herbert; specialists in advocacy and activism Paul Cook and Mark Letcher and many others.
