Musa Chibwana: "We can all make a difference"

Welcome to Progressio E-News August 2010

It is easy to underestimate the impact of our small acts in support of people suffering poverty and injustice. But a quote this week from Musa, one of our staff working in the children’s sector in Zimbabwe, helps to shake such sentiments: “We cannot all be development workers, but we can all make a difference. The people who support me in the UK can claim ownership of the results. There are a lot of poor children who have hope thanks to this support.’ Christine Allen Executive Director Progressio

Welcome to Progressio E-News June 2010

This month I am struck by the fragile nature of the environments in which much of the world's population live.

As the news from Haiti shows, the worst thing for people is to feel forgotten and powerless. But when people have the power to take charge of their situation - like the communities in Peru protecting their own environment - they really can transform their lives for the better.

Welcome to Progressio E-News October 2009

Democracy cannot work if politicians and decision-makers do not hear the people’s voice. Let’s make sure the world’s leaders gathering in Copenhagen in December hear us loud and clear: because tackling climate change and poverty is too important to leave to the politicians alone to decide.

Just Add Water! Progressio’s new campaign on climate change

As world leaders descend on Copenhagen in December, Progressio is calling on its supporters to send them a vital message: don’t forget water! Climate change is affecting rainfall, weather patterns and drought – and in turn the livelihoods of poor farmers around the world. This crucial resource must be remembered in Copenhagen!
