Sunday 12th to Sunday 19th June: LAUDATO SI’ WEEK. Every catholic community is asked to host a Laudato Si’ event by the Global Catholic Climate Movement [www.catholicclimatemovement.global], joining at least 1,000 other communities around the world.
One year ago, on June 18th 2015, Pope Francis released his historic encyclical Laudato Si: On Care for our Common Home. Laudato Si’ Week will be a major international celebration of the encyclical’s anniversary to reflect on the Laudato Si’ message and express our gratitude to Pope Francis by taking action to bring the encyclical to life.
ACTIONAID: Local Organiser, volunteer campaigners – recruitment - deadline for applications is Monday 20th June.
The role involves getting more engaged in ActionAid’s Make Tax Fair and Fearless women’s rights campaigns through activities such as lobbying your MP or getting local media coverage. Local organisers also support and grow the campaigner network, including delivering training and organising events. Training and support given. Tuesday 28th June: Poverty Truth Commission – Wolverhampton. Working with colleagues form Leeds and Scotland, we plan to host a PTC here in Wolverhampton. What if the people living in poverty in our city could take the lead in a new way of tackling poverty, which seeks to build a flourishing and thriving Wolverhampton by working in equal partnership with the city’s leaders and decision makers?
Church, faith and charity leaders are invited to this meeting for an opportunity to find out more about how they can be involved and how the process will work.
